exciting part of the world, it`s best to plan ahead and decide what sights you want to see before you arrive.

Many people arrive in London at Victoria Station; around here you`ll find plenty of old, historical buildings and just down the road, you can visit Buckingham Palace. The Changing of the Guards takes place every day in front of the palace at 11:30am and if you have the time to spare, it`s certainly worth taking a trip down the road to watch this fascinating spectacle.

Around Soho and Covent Garden, you`ll find plenty of fabulous shops, including luxury brand names as well as independent boutiques and markets. For all the high street shops, Oxford street and Regent street are the places to go, while those seeking vintage pieces should head over to Camden.

For those interested in culture and history, a trip to the East End and South Bank is a must, as these areas are famed for their eclectic mixture of quirky art galleries and famous museums. The National Gallery is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon wandering around; this is home to some of the most famous pieces of art in the world. Other galleries which are great for whiling away a few hours are the Tate Modern, which is free to visit and the National Portrait Gallery. For those with children, why not take a drive down to South Kensington and enjoy the delights of both the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum, which are just a stone`s throw away from each other.

Although London has a reputation as an expensive place to visit, there are actually many fun activities and sights which are entirely free. If you`re visiting during the summer months, you can take in a free show at the City Hall. The parks of London are another delightful (and free) place to spend some time; Hyde Park, Regent`s Park, Kew Gardens and Hampstead Heath are some of the most picturesque.

Of course, a guide to London wouldn`t be complete without mentioning the dazzling nightlife. The city is bursting with sophisticated wine bars, quaint pubs, chic nightclubs and much more besides. If the theatre is your thing, then don`t forget to purchase the lion king tickets; this is one of the most spectacular shows in the West End and is a favourite with everyone who sees it.
